Les bonnets Rouges, attention!The breton people are known for being proud, self-conscious and stubborn. A good example is the movement “les bonnets rouges” , which means “the red huts”. In November 2013 about 30.000 people all wearing red huts and waving with thousands of Brittanys black and white striped flags, protested in the streets of Quimper in Brittany against the socialist government’s law proposal “eco tax”. And they succeeded, the government abandoned the law proposal by fear of a “revolution”. The red huts also make you think of 1789 and the french Revolution. Why the titel is “Aux armes citoyens” (grab your weapons, citizens) from the french national anthem La Marseillaise.
Henriot de Quimper Sugar Bowl The old sugar bowl is typically breton design, handmade and handpainted from the famous porcelain factory in southern Brittany, Henriot de Quimper. The colorfull parrot from Guadeloupe in French iIndies is patiently waiting for his piece of sugar.
